ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

Treatment Alternatives: All On 4 Dental Implants To state the obvious, for various clinical and / or financial reasons, not every patient is a good candidate for the "All On 4" dental implant procedure. The good news is that you have options...   All On 4 Versus Dentures A denture is a removable device that is controlled by the patient and needs to be removed for cleaning and maintenance. It sits on the gum line, or is supported by "prepared natural teeth", normally natural teeth that can no longer function as nature intended. In the case of a partial denture, it is attached using metal hooks to adjacent teeth - further leading to failure as it grinds against natural dentition and the gum line. Patients who are missing most or all of their natural teeth and are wearing dentures know the pain and discomfort brought on by these appliances, and most seek alternative treatment. In addition, dentures do not replace the tooth root, which in turn will cause the jaw bone to melt away due to lack of stimulation, causing even more pain and embarrassment for denture wearers. Now there are viable options to help restore your smile. And one cost effective, proven option is the All-on-4 procedure. This treatment provides new teeth that are affixed to 4 implants per jaw, and look, feel and function like naturally beautiful, healthy teeth. In fact, dental implants are the closest thing we have to natural teeth. And the implants stimulate bone growth, just like your natural tooth roots helping to eliminate that sunken facial collapse which is so prevalent with denture wearers. IV SEDATION OR ORAL CONSCIOUS SEDATION: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

IV Sedation: All On 4 Dental Implants Is there any pain or discomfort associated with this procedure? Will I feel anything? As with any surgical procedure, there are varying degrees of discomfort. For the "All On 4" patient, the surgical phase is performed under the complete comfort of IV sedation (administered by a board certified Anesthesiologist).   Postoperatively The majority of our "All On 4" dental implant patients comment on how surprised they were with the minimal discomfort they felt after the procedure. There will be minimal swelling, but it's nothing that cannot be controlled with ice and over the counter pain relievers. Patients typically resume a full schedule of activities within 24 to 72 hours. Specific post operative instructions will vary on a case by case basis. Immediate function cases (when we attach the teeth to the implants the same day), patients should maintain a soft / medium diet to allow for the implants to heal properly.  This diet should be followed for a period of 8 to 12 weeks.  In other words, nuts, hard candy, ice and other hard foods are contraindicated during this time period.
